Marketing Pitch for TBI Raiders:
Target Groups: students and young adults with a TBI
Eligibility:
Members must:
have a TBI
be a student or young adult
take care of personal needs or be accompanied by a caregiver
take medication independently
engage and actively participate in activities peacefully with others
be able to participate with limited supervision
not be under the influence of alcohol or illegal intoxicating drugs while with the organization
New members and volunteers are welcome
Productivity and Purpose
TBI Raiders is to help see that students and young adults living with a Traumatic Brain Injury succeed at their dreams in both school and life, while also offering the opportunity to students who live with and without other disabilities to acquire job and leadership skills, interact with leaders for the state of Oklahoma, make a positive impact on their campus or in the community but above all else help improve the lives of those living w/ a TBI.
TBI Raiders: To provide an online club for students and young adults who have sustained a traumatic brain injury which will ultimately create a unit where there was none for survivors to unite and help each other succeed, showing other survivors what they once thought was impossible can turn into a goal that can be accomplished.
TBI’s Corner: To provide a source explaining traumatic brain injury and how it affects every group of individuals, teens, and adults for school. It will further provide answers and resources to those who want to learn more about the disability and find organizations and businesses that can better assist those affected by TBI. Its primary focus is to emphasize an
individuals’ re-entry to school.
Members of TBI Raiders: This is a place in which the volunteers with and without a TBI can come relax, build an online resume, and highlight and empower the volunteer service and the community work in which individuals who have a traumatic brain injury engage actively. Its primary focus is to emphasize an individuals’ re-entry to the workforce.
Survive to Vote: Started in 2005 with the purpose to get issues important to the disability community out in not just the time of election but out to those who are presently in office working to represent everyone. It is about ensuring elected officials show equal representation for not only societal norms but also those who have disabilities.
Events
Raid Oklahoma: helping to get the issues, concerns, and voices of Traumatic Brain Injury survivors out in the election. This is to empower survivors who have sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury and to encourage them to vote.
Monthly teleconference calls for Raid Oklahoma will be held to discuss how the topics of voting, self-advocacy, education, employment, and organizations relate to Traumatic Brain Injury survivors and helping to empower them to get out and vote in November. Building a communication chain between the state/congressional legislators for Oklahoma and those living with a Traumatic Brain Injury
Calls will be recorded so documentation can be made. These calls will go on monthly so that way TBI Raiders can help make sure Oklahomans who live with a Traumatic Brain Injury are represented in this election.
After the presentations are finished, then questions and answers will occur. These will be questions from survivors to the candidates or vise versa. This is so we can finally make sure that the TBI Community is represented in the upcoming election. If you would like to help by presenting or promoting, let me know.
TBI Raiders Month: This was established through HR1046 that was sponsored by State Representative Emily Virgin. This is a hope to create change. A change that would greatly benefit our young adults living with a Traumatic Brain Injury.
TBI Raiders Week: This is to highlight the successful recovery stories of Traumatic Brain Injury survivors, look at what other states are doing in hopes of doing something similar to what those states are doing, potentially creating partnerships with other states, and doing something to help the TBI Community.
Raiders Experience: This is to celebrate the capabilities of survivors but also educate others of the true realities to try to limit the misconceptions that may form from what little people know and provide support for those living with a TBI and PTSD. The first day will seek to bring more awareness on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Day two will focus on bringing more awareness on Traumatic Brain Injury.
Raiders Explosion: When someone sustains a Traumatic Brain Injury, a survivor and their loved ones will be thrust into so much confusion as to what and why they will deal with whatever it may be as a result of sustaining a Traumatic Brain Injury. Day one will focus on disabilities in general and day two will focus on Traumatic Brain Injury.
TBI Raiders Awareness Day: This will occur the day between day one and two of Raiders Explosion. This is to bridge the two communities together. When someone sustains a Traumatic Brain Injury they will acquire additional disabilities in the long run, if not immediately. This is to show in the long run scheme of things by becoming involved in TBI Raiders, you will learn about other disabilities that other people may live with.
